Honest
A new returnable series starring Amanda Redman; “Honest” is an upfront comedy-drama about the wrong sort of people trying to do the right thing when the rewards for going straight are neither immediate nor bountiful.
“Honest” is due to be transmitted in early 2008 on ITV1.
Synopsis
Whoever says crime doesn’t pay is a moron. But when Mack Carter is sent down for a four year stretch, his wife Lindsay starts to think that maybe the moron has a point and it’s time the Carter family gave up the family business of theft, fraud and the odd bit of forgery. This revelatory moment comes as something of a shock to the Carter off-spring who start to wonder if Mum has truly lost it but eldest son, Taylor, who has just graduated as a lawyer, proves for Lindsay exactly what can be achieved with a little honest hard work. The rest of the family will not be best pleased when they find out what Lindsay’s got lined up for them and exactly how hard this honest life is going to be as Taylor’s twin Vin (identical except in the brains department) only wants to be like his dad; 18-year-old Kacie is totally focused on being the next Naomi Campbell, and 15-year-old movie buff Lianna, is busy blackmailing her teacher.
Then there’s Grandpa, who may have Alzheimer’s – unless he’s just playing it up to annoy people; Detective Sergeant Ed Bain, the Carter family nemesis; the Hongs, a wealthy Asian family who claim to have Triad connections; Catherine Flitt, Liana’s deputy head, who has been having an affair with Taylor since he was a 15-year-old student; Reza, Vin’s best mate and partner in crime; and Mack Carter himself, who does not intend to take his wife’s sudden wave of righteousness lying down.
