Jill Green

Jill Green's eclectic background was initially in the tourism industry before she moved to head up the Marketing Division of major tour operator Thomson Holidays. Following that Green spent eight subsequent years in Advertising where, as Senior Account Director, she was responsible for many TV, cinema and radio commercials at leading creative agencies.

Green then went freelance, working as an independent producer at international television markets and festivals. In 1991, she was appointed Head of Children's & Family Programming at Red Rooster Film & Television Entertainment. She subsequently produced the pilot for "The Tics" for Carlton Television, 12 half hours of the classic family drama series "Samson Superslug" for Meridian Broadcasting and ITV1, "Smokescreen" the 6x1-hour classic family serial and "Monty The Dog", an animated series, both for the BBC.

In 1996, Green was promoted to Deputy Managing Director of Red Rooster, a post she held for a year before being promoted again to Managing Director in 1997. Specializing in prime-time drama, Green produced "Beyond Fear", the prestigious launch night film for the UK’s new terrestrial channel, Channel 5 which starred Gina McKee. She then executive produced the television film "Deadly Summer" and produced the major mini-series thriller, "The Alchemists", both for Channel 5.

During her period as Managing Director of Red Rooster, Green strategically restructured the company, moving (again) into developing a small slate of high concept ideas ranging from medium to high budget. The company was seen as one of the leading “creative forces” amongst broadcasters, freelancers and the independent sector – regularly quoted in the “Top 10” of successful independent companies, winning many prestigious awards for its notable slate of high quality, high concept dramas that sold extensively abroad. For Jill herself, “Beyond Fear was awarded a Special Jury prize at the Chicago Film Festival and at the 13th World TV Festival Japan, whilst “Deadly Summer” was short-listed for RTS and BAFTA awards.
